Living In The Past.
Yesterday was yesterday — it’s gone and will never again be. Everyone carries emotional baggage with them. You can reminisce if you’d like as long as you don’t forget that your reality exists only in the present. It can be a dangerous thing to dwell on the past. At times we will punish ourselves for mistakes that we made in the past. We can dwell in the negativity and bad feelings that we had. Be wary of focusing on past events and do your best to live in the moment.
Relying On Others.
Be self-reliant. Be independent. We all find ourselves alone at several points throughout our lives. At some point you WILL find yourself on your lonesome and won't know how to deal with it because you are used to having constant support, then you will drown. People have their own lives filled with their own headaches, own problems, own mishaps and own successes. You can’t build a good reputation or a successful way of life by relying on others to do for you what you can and should be doing for yourself.
Doing The Same Thing Over And Over, Expecting Different Results.
At the same time, don’t keep making the same mistakes and expecting different results. If you tried something one way and it didn’t work, then guess what will happen when you try again in the same manner? Yup it will again NOT WORK. Failure is only good if you learn from it. Otherwise its just failure.
Trying To Change Others.
I know this one all too well. You must learn to accept people for who they are. People don’t want to be changed and most often can’t be changed. People are who they are. Don't waste your time trying to fix them. Your better off to either accept them for who they are and deal with all their discrepancies or move on and find someone who's shortcomings you CAN deal with. Nobody is perfect and neither are YOU. The less you focus on all the things you find wrong about an individual, the more you can focus on the things you DO like about them.
Wishing You Were Someone Else.
Make sure that you know who you are and what you want. You have the potential to do anything you want. Figure out what it is that you want out of life and go after it. There is no need to change who you are to match some person you admire. You never know the personal struggles in other peoples lives. They may appear to have a perfect life on the outside but on the inside they could be a complete wreck. Focus on YOUR life and develop into the person you are meant to be. Love yourself.
Overlooking The Simple Things In Life.
The simplest of things are the most beautiful of things. Taking long walks. Talking to strangers. Enjoying sunsets, the trees, the birds, giving to others without expectation. Connect with nature and all that comes at little to no price. Life offers us simple beauties. Relish in them.
Trying To Impress Others.
No one likes you for your clothes, your car, your possessions, your title, or your accomplishments. Those are all "things." People may like your things—but that doesn't mean they like you. Sure, superficially they might seem to, but superficial is also insubstantial, and a relationship that is not based on substance is not a real relationship.
Interrupting isn't just rude. When you interrupt someone, what you're really saying is, "I'm not listening to you." Want people to like you? Listen to what they say. Focus on what they say. Ask questions to make sure you understand what they say. They'll love you for it—and you'll love how that makes you feel.
What we don’t start today won’t be finished by tomorrow. There’s nothing more stressful than the perpetual lingering of unfinished tasks. If you have obligations, then accept that you have the obligations and deal with them. The faster you get them done, the less time you waste thinking about them and dreading it. Once you deal with your to do list, its done, and the happier your life will be.
No matter how good or bad you have it, wake up each day thankful for your life. Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs. Instead of thinking about what you’re missing, try being grateful for all that you DO have. It makes today so much more joyful to live.
Focusing On The Negative.
Remember thoughts create reality. Negativity is overwhelming and contagious. It taints the way we look at the world and makes us believe that we are worse off than we actually are. Negativity and worry go hand in hand and can be the downfall of your happiness. Living your life filled with negative thoughts doesn’t leave any room for the positive. SO focus on the positive and life WILL instantly become more wonderful.
We are only here in this world for a certain amount of time to live your life. Use those minutes, hours, days, weeks and years to make the most of your life. Ever hear your elders complain about how fast time flies by? Listen to them. They’re speaking the truth.
Those who complain the most accomplish the least. And when you spend time complaining, you’re simply using your time and imagination to create things you don’t want. It’s usually only as good or bad as you think it is.
Overloading Your Schedule.
Doing more does not necessarily mean getting more done. It’s all about efficiency. Human beings require certain things in order to live tranquilly. Spend your time for all the things that you MUST do and then work on the rest for the things that you WANT to do. Just make sure to be clear on what you need before you start going after what you want.
Trying to find the perfect person
Not only is our idea of perfect most likely heavily shaped by entertainment and popular media but it is also ever changing and therefore pretty well impossible to ever be met. Rather than focusing on your search for that perfect someone to complete you, focus on what you need to do to feel complete within yourself. We are all capable of being and feeling complete love on our own, relationships are simply the extension of that love with another person. The shedding of the need for “perfection” will also make you a lot more open to connecting and sharing experiences with anyone that comes into your life, remembering that love can often be found in the oddest places.
Beating yourself up.
As insulting as another person can be, there is nothing capable of being more vicious to ourselves than ourselves. Whether you dropped out of college, you weren't the perfect parent or anything else you are disappointed about, nothing from the past has to have the power to affect the present in such a negative way that you are unable to enjoy life now. Choosing to create this moment new rather than allowing the past to weigh it down especially by things that are completely irrelevant to today. Forgiving yourself can be a really freeing experience.
Spending time with the wrong people.
Life is too short to spend time with people who zap the energy out of you. If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you. You shouldn’t be the one who always calls or visits. Never, ever give yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth. And remember, your true friends are not the people that stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst.
Trying to hold onto the past.
You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep trying to re-live your last one.
Trying to be everything to everyone.
It is impossible, and trying will only burn you out. let's give up worrying so much, people pleasing, and all the other time-sucking, love-wasting, energy-zapping things we do.
Worrying so much.
Worry will not strip tomorrow of its burdens, it will strip today of its joy. One way to check if something is worth worrying over is to ask yourself this question: “Will this matter in one year’s time? If not, then it’s not worth worrying about.
Focusing on what you don’t want to happen.
Focus on what you DO want to happen. Positive thinking is at the forefront of every great success story. If you awake every morning with the thought that something wonderful will happen in your life today, and you pay close attention, you’ll often find that you’re right.
Blaming others for your troubles.
The degree to which you can achieve your dreams depends on the degree to which you take responsibility for your life. When you blame others for what you’re going through and deny your responsibility, you give others the power over your life.
Trying to be perfect.
First, it is not possible, second, the real world doesn’t reward perfectionists, it rewards people who get things done.
Wasting time explaining yourself to others.
Your true friends don’t need an explanation and your enemies won’t believe you anyway. Just do what you know in your heart is right and you will have peace.
Letting others bring you down.
Refuse to lower your standards to accommodate those who refuse to raise theirs.Read More
